Not For Profit
Alzheimer's Research UK
Dark Spark was proud to have been able to support the data and CRM teams at Alzheimer's Research UK and learn more about the charity's vital fundraising activities.
The need for analytics
Alzheimer's Research UK is a leading dementia charity, and the campaigning and medical research they fund is life-changing. Their fundraising activities are therefore vital, and in turn, they rely on the provision of good data and analytics.

Delivery at pace
The time available to spend with Alzheimer's Research UK was limited so we had to be organised. Before the engagement began we created a Task Backlog and we ring-fenced time for important handover and data deletion activities at the end.
Exploring the data
As soon as we could access the data we set out to familiarise ourselves with it, learning how it was structured, understanding the key relationships between different datasets and being able to map the technical jargon to industry terminology, and subsequently its real-world significance.
Creating user engagement
In parallel with some more prescriptive, technical aspects of the delivery, it was important for us to learn how Alzheimer's Research UK staff would actually use our output. For that reason we set up 30-min chats with key users to understand their needs and the wider 'business' context of our work.
Predictive modelling
We had some extra capacity before the end of the engagement, so in addition to the core delivery, we explored some relevant use-cases for predictive modelling and presented the output to business and technical stakeholders.
Testimonial
Head of Data & CRM, Alzheimer's Research UK

"Having recently migrated to Salesforce, we required support to help us migrate our existing Power BI dashboards across to the new data mart we had built in Snowflake.
Dark Spark were able to quickly get up to speed and understand our data and produced excellent dashboards for us. They were very proactive, offering suggestions on how to improve our dashboards and went beyond the brief to make suggestions on how we could do more with the data available.
Dark Spark were a pleasure to work with."
